Denver is an amazing city but it’s always nice to have a change of pace. If you want to escape the city for the day or are simply looking to break the monotony of everyday life consider a day trip to Colorado Springs. Just over an hour away you can easily drive there and back with plenty of time in-between. Here are a few things to consider while in COS.
Spend The Day In Nature
The average adult spends 93% of their life indoors. While there may be no way to take your office job outdoors, you must prioritize spending time in nature. Not only is the fresh air good for you, but spending time in nature reduces blood pressure and stress and increases concentration. From hiking or picnicking at Pikes Peak to taking a Segway ride to some of our top historic sites—there is no shortage of options to choose from.
Sample Craft Beer
If you are a craft beer enthusiast you can spend the day sampling brews from the 30+ breweries and distilleries in and around Colorado Springs. You certainly won’t make it to them all so pick a handful—just make sure you have a designated driver. Some of the favorites include Fossil Craft Beer Company, veteran-owned Red Leg Brewing company, Whistle Pig Brewing, and Bristol Brewing, located in the historic Ivywild Elementary School building.
Festivals And Events
Head online to Visitcos.com to check and see if there is a festival or event during your day trip. This includes music, dance, arts and crafts, entertainment, food, wine, beer, active events, and more.
Tour A Museum Or Historic Site
There are many museums, historic sites, and tourist attractions to choose from in Colorado Springs—something for everyone. We cover many of the top historic sites on our Segway tours, but you have plenty more to choose from including the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Cave of the Winds Mountain Park, touring the U.S. Olympic Training Center, the US Air Force Academy, and more.
With so much to do you might turn your COS day trip into a full weekend getaway!
